It's Tastes Like Diabetes

Only since someone suggest I do this, I'm going to start posting my shake recipies on the internet. Even if you don't plan on drinking this crap you should read on - it's pretty funny.

Most often my shakes are simply made in a lidded cup by shaking together the protien with preferably (for taste and nutrition reasons) in skim milk but if I want something I can throw in my kit bag I'll just put powder in a cup and then fill it at a fountain at school or whatever. This crap dissolves better in water for some reason, I think fanning suggested because the milk already has things in it besides just water.

When I'm feeling exotic and I'm at the apt. I'll mix up something good in the blender. The one pictured about is:
Two scoops Chocolate Protien Powder (the equivalent of one and one third cans of tuna)
Large Dose of vanilla ice cream (probably about three scoops. Some people have suggested I use frozen yogurt because ice cream has a few more calories and a tad more fat but that's not the point - these shakes are supposed to increase my total daily calories while providing a quick venue for protien intake)
Just a splash of skim milk because it helps the ice cream blend down to a drinkable consistancy, maybe about a quarter of a cup of milk. If i put too much the shake loses it's nice thickness.
Big God (probably 1 - 2 big spoonfuls) all natural peanut butter. Unlike most peanut butters it's actually all peanuts and tastes way better.

I blend that just enough to hide the PB and protien powder in the ice cream and then drink it, often using a side dish of something "hard carby" like a muffin. These shakes are used for between meals, not as a meal replacement.

Oh wait, I had promised humor.... Let's see, funny.... funny... Oh how about this:

NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION FOR BLENDER DRINK LISTED ABOVE:
Protien - enough that if you don't gain some weight it's not because you don't have enough protien
Total Calories - Ya, if you're into counting calories drinking one of these babies might be a mistake
Total Sugar - I try not to think about that because it can't possibly be healthy. If I drink one of these that's a bit bigger than normal it makes my head feel funny and then I get real tired. It tastes like what I imagine diabetes must taste like.
Fat - Ya, I'ld say there's lots in there from the ice cream and peanut butter
Recommended daily intake - I'ld say anyone with any real education behind them wouldn't recommend taking these in. I'm pretty extreme and even I keep it limited to one a day and CERTAINLY not every day.

Other recipies I've tried are adding a banana which just made it taste funny and increased the diabetic type symptoms so I'll be avoiding that in the future. I've tried the chocolate mint flavor by its' self in ice cream and milk and it was great, almost as good as a treat from dairy queen.

I'll leave you with a little piece of advice my barber gave me - "Spend lots of time with the people who love you and to hell with the ones that don't." Jack the Barber is a national treasure in my opinion. I don't know another hair stylist who's fit to hold his comb jar.

Holy Frig I love beef jerky

Well boys it's going to be a halifofax weekend with the boys boys. Looking forward to seeing the guys very much. I'm getting my hopes up we'll find a way to hit go carts. Not to mention a little stop off at popeye's or profit for a stock up on protien.

Oh man last night I went to the gym and went hog wild then I came home and had a BIG friggin' blender drink and a cinamon roll. Then I crashed so hard I feel asleep with the lights still on in my appartment. Booya! Frig ya!

Today I seriously need a hair cut. My parents are coming to visit me this weekend and I don't wanna look scruffy when they're here. I realized something interesting about my parents since coming to UNB - I like them way more than I like most of the people I know.

Speaking of people I actually like and am not just making fraudulent attempts to be friendly towards (ask them it's true. I don't even try to act friendly at all!) me Doug Neil and Schaefer and Derrick need to have another weekend at the cottage before the summer's out and I should also make an effort to make it up to halifofax for a weekend. I guess the planning for all this starts with me getting ahold of doug and seeing what weekends he has availabamel.

Woa i just read that and I realized it make me sound like a prick! It's not that I don't like most of the people i know.... let me put out this reassurance - If you know about this blog chances are 99.99% sure I like you a lot, so I didn't mean YOU when I said there's a lot of people I don't like.

I need to make a trip to the library today, work related. Some reading time is in order. I have a wonderful quote I saw on Kier Campbell's blog which I'ld like to put here for you all to read that sums up how i often feel:

"if there were medals for procrastination, i would skip the ceremony just to sit on my ass."

Clever Kier. You hit the nail on the head with that one.

I'ld put links to my friends' blogs (neil and daniel you should get blogs) but I don't know how.

Blendy McBlendsalot

Well I finally bought myself a blender. So far I used it to make a delicous vanilla ice cream with chocolate protien powder and all natural peanut butter milkshake and a gatorade slushie. I can post some recipies later on if there's any interest and once I get the exact ratios of ingredients nailed down.

This weekend I had a tad bit of a cold and Friday was one of those feverish nights where I just couldn't sleep despite the use of NyQuil. I stayed up watching tv, king of the hill, American Chopper, and Far and Away (one of Tom Hanks movies from quiet a few years ago). Last night I slept like a log which was good.

So we might be getting the apparatus for the experiment I'm going to be doing at work, the mixing machine thing, this week. That would be awsome because right now I'm working on text book problems at work and to be honest I don't really love them.

Well boys at this point in the summer I think the obvious question is - if I'm going to make it to Halifofax this summer, when will I do it?

Did I make a mistake along the way somewhere?

Guys, I got some bad news. Engineering doesn't seem that fun to me anymore and I don't think I'm good at it.

My plan is to still carry through with this and finish my degree up next year, heck maybe even stick around for the masters. And afterwards I'll get an "engineering job" whatever that is. The unfortunate parts boys is that I don't really see how this is going to be fun. Maybe it won't?

I like cool stuff like Monster Garage and Mythbusters but I don't really see people lining up around the block to pay me to screw around with cool gadgets.

I wrote that earlier part when I was depressed. I guess I'm not in that bad of a career place. Hahahaha better than most of the younger people I know, save for the boys boys boys.

P.S. that was a damb fine weekender fellas. We needa do it again when Doug gets home from Europia. The best fireworks in the world are the ones you light on your own front lawn.
