A Thanksgiving or Not So

I think this is my first year not going home for Thanksgiving. I stayed here in Waterloo for obvious reasons. I didn't really find it that bad though, and it was better knowing my family also missed out on thanksgiving diner because we're having new floors put in the kitchen so it was all torn up and in no state to cook a turkey diner in. I'm betting Joey's girlfriend probably had them over for diner, unless she had to work.

I'm really enjoying my time here in Ontario. The people at waterloo are mostly all very serious students and somewhat quiet and intraverted. I believe I'll be here for the remainder of the school year but will be returning to PEI after the winter semester ends to focus more on the project at hand. My background reading is going surprisingly well, this week I'm reading a great text on combustion of solids, so maybe you could say I'm getting a Masters in campfires.

I have an aspiration to drive across Canada to Manitoba with the Neilster in the spring if opportunity allows it. Neil may look like an Alien but rest assured he'ld be good company in a truck for a few days.

I saw the Trailer Park Boys movie Saturday night and (without any spoilers) I thought they did a good job of it. As Dave Chamberlain had said, it's the low brow humor / low budget approach that makes that show great. They added a little glits and glamor for the big screen, but not so much that it hurt them I think.

I'm going to Ottawa this week for a workshop related to the Alternative Fuels Team. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about alternative energy in the transportation sector and also having a few nights (thursday to tuesday inclusive) in the nation's capital. I'm sure the guys will find some fun to get into.

Comments:
I hear ya, Sambo. The closest I came to a Thanksgiving dinner was some turkey pizza. You should post some links to the various cool stuff going on at Waterloo.
